Our LEAP tagline states: Leverage your Experience; Achieve Prosperity. Before LEAP existed and as Katie and I struggled to wrap words around the opportunity we wanted to create for others to move into independent consulting, we kept coming back to this idea of prosperity.
Yet we knew that OUR definition of prosperity was richer and more complex than just a measure of financial affluence or commanding a high wage.
In the US, where we tend to measure most everything by the dollar sign, many might say that being prosperous is wealth that comes from having more than enough money to spend easily on luxurious items and having enough of a stash of cash to continue not to worry about money well into the future.
Yet as Katie and I pondered the prosperity we have been able to create in our careers as independent consultants, we knew our definition was far broader than having a profitable business and high earning power.
The LEAP definition of Prosperity includes:
- Earning a living through using skills we have honed over the years
- Doing work that we are good at and enjoy doing
- Operating out of a sense of purpose that is deep and meaningful for us
- Integrating work into our broader life; having time for friends and family, time for travel, time for exercise and community work and a rich social life
- The continual growth that comes from continually facing new challenges, learning new things and acquiring new skills
- The security that comes from knowing that you can make it independently and that as one engagement ends, another can be found
- And the ability to earn a good living doing the work you love
When you work with LEAP, you’ll create a prosperity plan. And that plan is far different from an income statement or balance sheet. But in so many ways, it adds so much more richness to your life in ways that truly matter.
